Anticipating the Supreme Court’s health care decision

June 27, 2012

Rallying outside of the U.S. Supreme Court.

The Task Force has been a strong advocate for the landmark health reform law, and tomorrow’s ruling will have major implications for the fight to ensure that LGBT people have access to affordable health insurance coverage. LGBT people are in desperate need of affirmative, comprehensive and affordable healthcare. Our National Transgender Discrimination Survey found that 19 percent of transgender and gender non-conforming people lack access to any type of health insurance. The Supreme Court’s impending decision will have major implications for LGBT people and families, so we’ll be bringing you information about its effects later this week. Follow @TheTaskForce on Twitter for the most up to date information.

The National Center for Transgender Equality will be hosting a community call on Thursday, June 28 at 8:00 PM ET. Speakers will include NCTE’s Executive Director Mara Keisling and Policy Counsel Harper Jean Tobin.

We invite you to join us for an interactive #HealthJustice Tweet Chat this Friday, June 29. We’re joining with other organizations to discuss what the Supreme Court’s decision on the Affordable Care Act (ACA) will mean for women, people of color, LGBT folks and other underserved groups. This Tweet Chat is your chance to understand what the Supreme Court’s decision on the health care law means for you, your family and your community.

Advocates, organizers and consumers will have an opportunity to learn in more depth about the implications of this decision, and be able to ask questions, get advice for organizing in your community and share resources from a wide range of participating organizations:
