Stand up against DOMA

July 13, 2011

Next week the U.S. Senate will hold its first-ever hearing on the Respect for Marriage Act which seeks to repeal the so-called “Defense of Marriage Act” (DOMA).

The hearing is open to the public and we need to pack the room with loving, committed families to show just how damaging DOMA is. To join us next Wednesday, July 20th at 10am please RSVP by noon this Friday, July 15 to abennett@thetaskforce.org.

If you want to help repeal DOMA, but can’t make it to the hearing, we are also compiling stories from couples and families to include in our written testimony. Please send your story to kriggs@thetaskforce.org.

The Obama administration has already dropped its defense of DOMA, now it’s time for congress to pass the Respect for Marriage Act and repeal DOMA once and for all.

Please contact your Senators on the Judiciary Committee and impress upon them to harshly question anyone who appears as a witness that works for an SPLC Certified Hate Group such as the American Family Association, Family Research Coucnil, National Organization for Marriage, Catholics Bishops Conference, Concerned Women for America, etc. Ask your Senators to couch their questions by announcing these people’s hate group status in this manner; for example “Mr. Peter Sprigg, your organization, the Family Research Couincil is a certified hate group,….” Every time one of these hate leaders gets up to testify, they should be identified as a hate group leader.
