The Task Force delivers your message to the Senate
At this year’s Creating Change conference, the Task Force launched an advocacy campaign to protect Social Security. We collected over 1000 postcards while we were in Minneapolis and 5,000 people from across the country signed the online petition.
Yesterday, we delivered your postcards and petitions in person to the Senate offices. We let them know that nearly all Americans will depend on Social Security at some point. And LGBT people have less income in retirement and have to rely on Social Security more than straight people.
Protecting Social Security is an LGBT and progressive value.
You can still join the campaign by signing the petition online to ensure that there will not be cuts to Social Security benefits. The fact is that Social Security has not contributed one penny to the deficit, yet it is under attack to supposedly reduce the deficit.
