Sharing a message of hope, speaking out against bullying

October 19, 2010

In response to the recent spate of LGBT-related suicides and hate violence, Task Force Faith Work Director Rev. Rebecca Voelkel has contributed a video clip to the “It Gets Better” project. The video, shot at this month’s Believe Out Loud Power Summit, encourages LGBT people everywhere not to lose hope:

The video and other videos for “It Gets Better” can be seen at the project’s website.

While at Believe Out Loud, Rebecca and the Task Force’s Daniel Pino were interviewed by Orlando’s WESH TV on the topic of anti-LGBT hate crimes and bullying:

Have you or someone you love been bullied, threatened or harassed due to real or perceived gender identity or sexual orientation? Share your story with us. When we share our experiences, we can learn from each other, support each other and strengthen our community.

If you or someone you know is considering suicide or need help, call the Trevor Project at 866-4-U-TREVOR (866.488.7386) or check out its website.
