Spotlight on faith

August 19, 2010

The Rev. Rebecca Voelkel, program director of the Task Force’s Institute for Welcoming Resources (IWR), highlights the importance of the LGBT community working alongside communities of faith and with other social justice movements.

Earlier this summer, Voelkel participated in Netroots Nation 2010, speaking at the panel titled “Common Values: Building Bridges with People of Faith to Win Progressive Change.”

IWR helps build churches that are welcoming and nurturing to all. Learn more about IWR here. You can also download Building an Inclusive Church: A Welcoming Toolkit, IWR’s step-by-step guide to help facilitate the welcoming process in local congregations.

This October, the IWR is convening the Believe Out Loud Power Summit in Orlando, Fla. The power summit is an advanced training for leaders in the welcoming church movement. Go here to get more details and to register.
