Pride flag flies high above the Seattle Space Needle

June 28, 2010

Marsha Botzer, a member of the Task Force board of directors, helps raise the Pride flag over Seattle's Space Needle.

This Pride season really is turning out to be a series of firsts! In addition to the first professional sports teams marching in a Pride parade, on Friday morning, the Pride flag was raised above the Space Needle in Seattle for the first time.

Marsha Botzer, co-chair of the Task Force board of directors, was on hand for the ceremony and said:

I was honored to be part of a delegation representing the diversity of our Northwest LGBTQ community as we all joined in raising up the Rainbow Flag for the first time on the Space Needle!  We each took a turn actually raising the flag, symbolizing our unity.

Joe Mirabella has more at Seattle City Brights, including great photos of the hoisted flag!
